Hailing from the North of Spain but based in Madrid and part of its burgeoning scene, Baywaves craft pop songs that melt shiny melodies and hypnotic progressive vibes. The young four-piece gained international attention with their debut EP “Only For Uz” (Foehn Records, 2016), a four track journey into spacey, sun-drenched psych pop. Mixed by King Gizzard’s guitar-hero Joe Walker, the EP opened doors for the band to showcase their powerful live show at End Of The Road, Eurosonic, FIB, Primavera Sound and NOS Alive, and lead to several tours around Europe.
The band continued their meteoric rise, working with Jarvis Taveniere (Woods) on singles “Gliss” and “Down 4 U”. Both of which were released in the summer of 2017, resulting in The Guardian naming Baywaves as a band to watch in 2018. Beginning the year with a 12-show run at SXSW, Baywaves came back with the single “Still In Bed”, an addictive slow-disco piece that served as first cut from their new EP, “It’s Been Like” (Art Is Hard, 2018). Through this release Baywaves delivered more of their own spacey synths, jangly guitars and catchy melodies. However, they broadened their spectre of influences, taking an electronic but organic approach, which placed them in the same club as Bibio, Toro y Moi, and Washed Out.
