Sheffield four-piece Laurel Canyons are a dipping rod of stark alt-country and experimental indie that, when removed for inspection, drips with the kaleidoscopic rainbow shimmer of post-rock. It glitters like fish scale against the murk and darker waters of their influences to elevate the sonic delivery to something close to otherworldly. Remarkably composed and thick with complexity, textures and layers are built up like oils on canvas until the swell moves as a whole, making for an incredible force and a compelling sound.
