Two Blinks, I Love You

TWO BLINKS, I LOVE YOU

BIOGRAPHY

Emerging from the autofiction of Pizzagirl – where opposing voices and narrative forms clashed and tussled underneath a digital blanket of memes, metronomes and quantised synth arrangements – Liam Brown’s new project Two Blinks, I Love You turns the page. Embracing the charm of imperfection and the beauty of not knowing everything. Where previously he built zany, aesthetic bedroom-pop worlds of memes, shitposts and maximalism, Two Blinks unbuckles from internet culture and ventures outside to embrace a non-ironic sense of self-reflection. The newly-honed sound bathes in a gentle half-light where wistful off-piste ruminations are joined by a grounded patience and sharp lyrical simplicity. This is lo-fi pop as a balm to woe. Pulling on early 2000s alt rock and folk, organic instrumentation, Two Blinks leans into the minimalist design philosophies of the New York subway system and the Helvetica font as a way of cutting to the quick & prioritising the essential. In this way, the song structures act as alley ways, economically granting passage to lyrics that cut to the emotional core.
