iamkyami & Lazygirl Leave F*ckbois On Read

iamkyami drops new single When I Call (feat. Lazygirl) alongside an animated video illustrated by JanCarlo Caling. A pristine, bouncy slice of electronic bedroom-pop, the single is the third to be lifted from The Kenny Klubhouse EP.

Characterised by crisp percussion and airy synths, the call and response conversation between the protagonists plays out like a love affair until a record scratch moment in the bridge. Ky explains: “Lazygirl and I didn’t really have an understanding of the lyrical meaning behind the song until we wrote the bridge over FaceTime. We had all these lyrics which basically sounded like a lesbian love song but PLOT TWIST, in the bridge, we discover that we’re both singing about going out with the same f*ckboi.

The accompanying lyric video by JanCarlo Caling is a kawaii fever dream of ride-on snails, magic wands and midnight texting. “One of my favourite parts of the video is when Beth and I do the Sailor Moon transformation and blast the f*ckboi out of our lives!” says Ky. The kaleidoscopic mash-up, serves PS1-aesthetics-meets-Adventure-Time realness and is available to watch on YouTube now.
