The Slow Country announce limited 7” Vinyl for singles Firing Line/ In The Mud ahead of sold out Manchester show.
Recalling early 2000s big band ensembles The Slow Country showcase the exuberance of seven distinct personalities tightly bonded by friendship and curiosity, surging forwards toward an unknown future. This is showcased in their singles ‘Firing Line’ and ‘In The Mud’ released earlier this year, produced by Bill Ryder-Jones the band explore the repetitive nature of anxiety, depression and self pity, whilst dealing with the idea of fading memories in the loss of a loved one.
Talking about the tracks the band say –
“It becomes harder to picture all the features of someone’s face after they die, and the image of them in your mind grows fuzzy and blurry. For my grandma, I find it increasingly difficult to remember what her hands looked like, the details of her eyes, or what she would likely be wearing now.”
“To me, Firing Line is about anxiety, depression and self-pity, and the repetitive lifestyle they can create. When those feelings hit, they almost feel like an act of violence against oneself. When you’re in the throes of anxiety and depression, you don’t notice the beauty in the world around you.“
The tracks follow with a nationwide run of shows including a sold out show at London St. Pancras Church and an already sold out homecoming show on Friday 17th April. They also join Swim Deep on their headline tour this Autumn, as they continue an impressive live run that includes tour dates with Floodlights, The Last Dinner Party, Opus Kink, Pem, pencil and Picture Parlour, plus festival spots at The Great Escape, Truck and Wilderness.
