A perfect unity of 80s funk, Jai Paul and ABBA influences, Tungz debut album A Good Dream opens the door to a neon-soaked REM state. Seductive reverbs, frazzled synth gates and honey-suckled vocals pull ears under the blankets of the consciousness into a succession of half-real images, ideas, emotions and sensations. Safe to say that the Tungz experience has undergone a sizeable shift in gear. Taking dark motifs and burying them under swelling melodies that glint between the bars, the inescapable charm of Tungz is their pragmatic approach to storytelling which coaxes audiences into a simultaneous state of willing acceptance and blissful escapism. The effects of these musical grade anaesthetics, mean that Tungz can pour narrative into the ear. And the record is full of it. From the masculine mental health crisis, to the micro heartbreaks of day-to-day existence,  to the impermanent nature of time… it’s all here.
