Dreamy and cinematic, Northern American are the sonic equivalent of dipping below the clouds above an expansive city on approach to landing. Specialising in romantic leaning, end-of-a-motion-picture sounding tunes concerned with silicone valley provoked communication breakdown, they capture the sprawling, palm-tree ambience of LA. Where Northern American are concerned, Los Angeles sounds like dusty boulevards, tumbleweed, and thousand-yard-stares over the firmament into the mountains and deserts beyond. Guitars are used as floaty watercolour brushstrokes on top of the haze and smog of rhythms. Young adulthood, transitioning uncertainly, idealism to disillusion, it’s all here in a collection infused with an aloe vera smoothness.
