LETTING UP DESPITE GREAT FAULTS
3RD FEBRUARY 2017 | HEIST102 | SINGLE
Taken from the EP Alexander Devotion.
Musical dopamine, Letting Up Despite Faults blend lo-fi synths, breathy vocals, chiming guitars and electronic drum patterns, each transmitting summer highs, unrequited love and sugar-coated melancholy directly to the brain. A swirl of indie pop irresistibly revealing buried vocals and melodious ostentation in equal measures. At the time of release, it was felt that EP – as opposed to an album – would allow a little more for experimentation, a freer approach to songwriting. Having not written together for a year, the band felt like there was a lot of rust to shake off but were keen to push towards fresh sounds and new songs. Matching new ideas against their immediately recognisable sound. At times beautiful, at others stark, it underlines the potent creativity at work.
