THE KENNY KLUBHOUSE

IAMKYAMI

29TH APRIL 2022 | HEIST220 | EP

DESCRIPTION

Serving glimmer-swirl indie R&B with a side of polygluttonous punk attitude, iamkyami’s sophomore collection does not rest on its laurels. Rather it takes a turn for the pop, dripping with hooks, big choruses and a melodic boldness up until now unexplored. That’s not to say there aren’t fragments of familiarity to be found in the stillness of the aftermath of their previous EP. Kenny Klubhouse sees Ky enter stage left onto a set dressed as a far-future cartoon landscape dotted with skyscraper-sized themes, where pillowy synths wobble in the rising heat of the afternoon and light-headed guitar flurries float by like dust in the sunlight.

Raw, honest and with near ninja-like emotional literacy, iamkyami is your slick-talking, perceptive narrator exploring notions of identity, uniqueness and self. Sonically, part set in an era where you could drop your phone and have the battery fly out, but cut with beats, bass and toplines that could be extraterritorial, the collection injects zesty energy into the world of indie.
